School District Has $6.6 Million Security Contract

PATERSON, NJ – City school officials are moving ahead on $6.66 million worth of contract with the private company that provides security at Paterson schools.

A second contract for $3,672,444 covers the time from January 1, 2012 through June 30, 2012.

Officials said the different prices do not reflect any change in the security plans at the schools.

The first contract includes summers months when less security is needed, officials said.

The first contract pretty much covers services that already have been provided, while the second reflects a maximum payment for projected services over the next six months.

Paterson Public Schools provides security in three ways: its contract with Control, an inhouse security staff that includes many retired city police officers, and arrangement to pay some off-duty city police to work at various schools. >>Paterson News
